Travellers departing on Monday from Port Canaveral (Orlando) on-board Royal Caribbean’s Majesty of the Seas, have seen their four night Bahamas cruise delayed due to safety concerns raised by the United States Coast Guard.
Local media reports suggest that the ship has “failed multiple safety exams” prior to its departure today, and that it won’t be allowed to leave until the “various safety concerns” have been rectified.
Passengers on-board the ship said that they were told the ship was having technical difficulties and it would be delayed leaving port. But at 18.30hrs the Captain said that the delay was due to faulty safety equipment and that the ship would be stuck in port until tomorrow.”
A Royal Caribbean spokesman, said: “Yesterday, the U.S. Coast Guard conducted a routine inspection of Majesty of the Seas. They came across some technical issues, including some outdoor lifejackets that were showing their age. The replacements arrived to the ship early this morning and we expect to address the other issues shortly.”
