Bulgari Hotels & Resorts has announced the opening of The Bulgari Hotel Shanghai, the sixth jewel of Bvlgari’s hospitality collection.

Balancing nature, design, and heritage, Bulgari Hotel Shanghai is the latest property of the luxury brand. It will occupy the eight topmost floors of a 48-floor building, with the lower floors occupied by The Bulgari Residences.

“The Bulgari Hotel Shanghai is another milestone for the Bulgari Hotels and Resorts collection. Following the recent opening of our property in Beijing, it confirms the importance of the Chinese market for the Bulgari brand,” said Jean-Christophe Babin, CEO of Bulgari.

Just last month, the brand announced its first property in Japan. As they did for the other Bulgari properties, the renowned Italian architectural firm Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel designed the hotel. It’s a glamorous contemporary masterpiece, at par with the Bulgari luxury brand.

The hotel’s 82 guest rooms, including 19 suites, crown the top eight floors of the 48-floor tower. They have an average size of over 60 square meters – among the most spacious in the city. Inside the hotel, guests can experience the comfort of modern Italian furnishings. The pieces were custom-made by revered Italian brands such as B&B, Maxalto, Flos and Flexform.

“It is an honour for us to bring the best of the Italian design and lifestyle culture to one of the most modern, vibrant and glamorous cities in the world”

Accessed via a private lift, a 400 square metre Bvlgari Suite occupies the top floor. It offers sweeping views of the Shanghai cityscape. By connecting it with an adjoining suite, it extends to create a 570 square metre three-bedroom residence.

Connecting the past and the future

The former Chamber of Commerce Shanghai built in 1916 is adjacent to the hotel tower. It now houses a 500 square metre Bulgari Ballroom with triple-height ceilings, the Bao Li Xuan Chinese restaurant, and The Whisky Bar.

While staying at the hotel, guests can conveniently visit the Yu Garden, Xintiandi district and the contemporary galleries of M50. All these can be visited through a Maserati limousine. When arriving in the city by air, the hotel is 45 minutes from Shanghai Pudong International Airport or 35 minutes from the Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport.

Bulgari Hotel Shanghai is set to open on 20 June 2018. Furthermore, three new Bvlgari Hotels are due to open from 2020 to 2022 in Moscow, Paris and Tokyo.
