Cachet Hotel Group (CHG), the Hong Kong-based company that operates the URBN and Cachet hotel brands, has formed a new joint venture to develop Las Vegas-style nightlife venues across Asia.
The company has teamed up with Drai’s Enterprises to launch Drai’s Asia, which aims to create a portfolio of nightclubs, bars, lounges and beach clubs in destination cities and resorts across the Asia Pacific region.
The first venues will be located in Chengdu and Bangkok.
“We are pleased to partner with creative geniuses, Victor Drai and Michael Gruber, who have a proven track record in creating nightlife destinations,” said Alexander Mirza, president & CEO of CHG.
“This new venture will serve Asia’s growing demand for nightlife. We look forward to debuting Drai’s within CHG hotels and in other properties.”
US nightclub mogul Victor Drai, who heads up Drai’s Enterprises, is the founder of Las Vegas’ mega clubs Tryst and XS at Wynn, and the owner of Drai’s Afterhours and Drai’s Beach Club. He was also the film producer responsible for Weekend at Bernie’s.
Drai is also planning to launch a new “ultra lounge” in the new Trump Hotel & Residences in Vancouver.
“Victor and I are very excited about expanding into Asia Pacific with Cachet,” said Michael Gruber, president of Drai’s Enterprises and the new CEO of Drai’s Asia. “Drai’s Asia will bring our award-winning brands and operation expertise to developers throughout China, Thailand and across Southeast Asia.”
The venture’s first projects will launch at the new Cachet Hotel in Chengdu in 2016 and at the Cachet Deluxe Hotel in Bangkok in 2017. These will become Drai’s first locations outside North America.
