Caer Rhun Hall, North Wales

North Wales, a land of rugged looks and bleak natural beauty – home to Mount Snowdon, the eight towers of Medieval Conwy Castle and the iconic Snowdonia national park – is all set to counter the dramatic nature of its landscape with an accent of unadulterated luxury this month, with the relaunch of Caer Rhun Hall.

Scheduled for opening on 8 August, the region’s newest premium accommodation is a three-storey Victorian mansion built on an estate of mature landscaped gardens using a mix of grey limestone and red sandstone.

Now, following an extensive, multi-million pound refurbishment, the grand but intimate Caer Rhun Hall has been reborn with 32 rooms and suites, expected to grow to 76 by Q4 2019.

Caer Rhun Hall features a range of public access rooms, which incorporate visual elements from its original construction, such as the wooden panelled Tudor style main hall, Garden Room, Drawing Room as well as the Library – soon to be renamed Apothecary – an ‘honesty’ bar for residential guests.

Initially launching as a luxury accommodation with breakfast, the venue – which also caters for weddings and events – will add a restaurant and spa in the next 18 months as it develops into a boutique, destination hotel and spa. Guests will be offered a country table, buffet-style Caer Rhun breakfast, featuring local Welsh cured meats, cheeses, breads and other produce from the local farming community.

Caer Rhun Hall is also a useful location for rambles, treks and cycling adventures. For guests seeking a more adrenaline-charged activity a scenic half-hour drive will take them to Mount Snowdon’s Zip World, where they can fly down a mile-long zipwire. Fans of aqua sports can try their hand at surfing, skin boarding and windsurfing the North Wales coastline, just 15 minutes away.
