Cambodia’s Sokha Hotels today announces the launch of its new culinary training programme for local chefs.
The Sokha Culinary Graduates Program will initially be offered at the company’s two properties in Siem Reap, before gradually rolling out to other hotels in the group’s Cambodian portfolio.
Headed up by Chef Nicolas James Anderson, who has 20 years of experience, the programme’s goal is to teach a range of culinary skills to aspiring young Cambodian chefs.
“The programme aims to promote and provides insight [and] knowledge about the five-star cooking methods and techniques to young Cambodian chefs within Sokha Hotels & Resorts, and we are very delighted to have Chef Anderson onboard with us,” said Sok Chanthy, Sokha’s group director of sales & marketing.
“This programme also coincides with the launch of our new Lemongrass Restaurant in [the] Sokha Siem Reap Resort & Convention Center, where the “chef’s table” concept will be introduced,” she added.
Anderson, who is currently executive chef at the Sokha Phnom Penh Hotel & Residence, has previously worked at with cruise lines including Seaborn and Holland America, as well as being a culinary instructor at Les Roches International School of Hotel Management.
“We plan to install confidence, as we train competence in a range of technical skill, promote awareness and understanding of cultural differences,” said Anderson.
