Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group has announced plans to launch its first Park Inn by Radisson hotel in China, as part of a major expansion strategy in the country.

The company has signed the new 200-room Park Inn by Radisson Libo, in the southern province of  Guizhou. Located at the entrance of Xiaoqikong National Park, this new-build midscale hotel is scheduled to open in the second quarter of 2016.

Once launched, it will mark the arrival of Carlson Rezidor’s third brand in China, following Radisson Blu and Park Plaza, which are currently present in cities including Beijing, Shanghai, Chongqing, Tianjin and Wuxi.

“We have an over 20-year history in China and increasing our footprint in the country is an integral part of our growth strategy in Asia Pacific,” said Thorsten Kirschke, Carlson Rezidor’s president of Asia Pacific.

“In addition to the 50 hotels we plan to have in operation by 2019, we are moving forward aggressively to grow our presence and expand our pipeline in China further to deliver an even stronger growth trajectory.”

And Carlson Rezidor is also planning to launch another new brand in China next year, when it opens its first ever Radisson Red hotel in Shenyang. The company said that this new lifestyle brand is “well positioned to capture the Chinese millennial traveller, aged 25–34, which will make up more than a third of Chinese tourists by 2019”.

In total, Carlson Rezidor currently operates 14 hotels in China with a further 28 in the pipeline. And the company said it planning to “seize opportunities in emerging cities”, including Dalian, Nanjing, Sanya, Shenzhen, Xiamen and Xi’an.

The new Guizhou hotel will join portfolio of 136 Park Inn by Radisson hotels currently operating in 37 countries.
