Carlson Rezidor goes green in Asia Pacific

Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group has revealed that it has reduced the energy consumption at its Asia Pacific hotels by more than 20% since 2009.
The company embarked on a partnership with EarthCheck, the environmental benchmarking group, seven years ago, which has driven a series of cost reductions and environmental improvements at its Asia Pacific properties.
Twenty-six Carlson Rezidor properties in Asia Pacific have now received EarthCheck certification, including eight reaching gold status.
The EarthCheck initiatives have reduced the company’s overall energy consumption in Asia Pacific by 611 million megajoules, or 21.5%, since 2009 – equivalent to requirements of 25,658 typical households in a developed country for a year. It has also saved 917m litres of water, an 11% reduction, and 7.8m litres of waste, a 36.9% reduction.
Combined, these reductions have saved Carlson Rezidor a total of US$6.9m.
