Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group has announced plans to enhance its portfolio in Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific, with the addition of three new brands to the region.
At the HotelsWorld 2015 conference in Sydney this week, Carlson Rezidor’s president for Asia Pacific, Thorsten Kirschke, said his company will introduce its Radisson Red, Park Inn by Radisson and Country Inns & Suites by Carlson to the Oceania region.
“Our expansion plans for Australasia are backed by 17 years of experience in the region,” said Kirschke. “The tourism outlook is positive, especially in Australia where the forecast is for continued growth and where demand for rooms is projected to outstrip supply over the next three years.
“To better position ourselves to seize the opportunities, we are growing our team to include a dedicated Australasia hotel development function based in Sydney and also introducing our full portfolio of brands including Radisson Red, Park Inn by Radisson and Country Inns & Suites by Carlson… to the region.”
Carlson Rezidor said its new high-tech lifestyle hotel concept, Radisson Red, “has strong potential in Australian destinations like Adelaide, Brisbane, Darwin, Gold Coast, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney“.
Carlson Rezidor is also planning to roll out its Country Inns & Suites brand in Oceania, with a focus on “the regional centres of Australia and New Zealand”.
Finally, the company said the midscale Park Inn by Radisson brand has “strong potential… in Australasia”.
Kicking off its growth plans in Australia, the company will revamp its flagship Radisson Blu Plaza Hotel in Sydney. The first phase, covering meeting and conference rooms, is due to be unveiled in late August. This will be followed by the redesign of all 364 rooms and suites.
Carlson Rezidor currently operates Radisson Blu hotels in Sydney and Fiji and Radisson hotels in Sydney and Melbourne.
