Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group has continued to expand its portfolio in India with the signing of three new properties.
The company, which is already the largest international hotel group in India, has sealed contracts for the 150-room Radisson Blu Kochi Elamkulam in Kerala, the 158-room Radisson Resort Mahabaleshwar in Maharashtra, and the 119-room Radisson Gurgaon Sohna Road, in the Delhi NCR region.
“We have a strong and active development pipeline, with many of these projects already under construction,” said Raj Rana, Carlson Rezidor’s CEO for South Asia.
“Our strategy to concurrently strengthen our presence in state capitals, as well as emerging secondary and tertiary cities, is delivering the robust growth that we anticipated. We are confident of achieving our goal of increasing our India portfolio to more than 170 hotels within the next five years.”
The first of the three new hotels to open will be the Radisson Blu Kochi Elamkulam, a conversion property located close to Kochi’s city centre. The hotel, which will have 1,500m² of meetings space, is expected to launch in December 2015.
Then in 2018 the company will open the new-build Radisson Gurgaon Sohna Road, which it says will “cater to the MICE and wedding segments”. And a year later in 2019, the new-build Radisson Resort Mahabaleshwar will open its doors in the Sahayadri ranges of western India, around 4.5 hours’ drive from Mumbai.
These latest additions to Carlson Rezidor’s Indian portfolio join the company’s existing collection of 71 hotels in operation and 41 under development across 45 Indian cities, including 14 state capitals.
