Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group has announced plans to significantly expand its portfolio in Oceania.

At the 2016 Australasia Hotel Industry Conference & Exhibition (AHICE) in Melbourne, the company revealed its aim to have 15-20 hotels in Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific region “in the mid-term” – up from just four at present.

Currently the group operates the Radisson on Flagstaff Gardens Melbourne, Radisson Suites Sydney, Radisson Blu Plaza Sydney and Radisson Blu Fiji Denarau Island. It has also confirmed plans to launch the region’s first Park Inn by Radisson in Fiji in 2018.

“Australasia is an integral part of Carlson Rezidor’s Asia Pacific expansion strategy and we are committed to growing our presence in this market by rolling out our brand portfolio and actively seeking conversion opportunities,” said Andreas Flaig, the company’s executive vice president of development for Asia Pacific.

“In addition to addressing the millennial-minded segment by introducing our Radisson Red brand in metropolitan cities, we are exploring upscale resort opportunities along the Gold Coast for Radisson Blu, while growing our Park Inn by Radisson brand to capture the midscale segment.”

The Oceania expansion forms part of Carlson Rezidor’s broader plans for the Asia Pacific region. In 2015, the company opened 10 and signed 23 hotels in the region, and it is targeting the addition of 100 operating hotels in Asia Pacific portfolio by 2020.
