Banyan Tree Capital (BTC), which operates the Laguna Lang Co resort complex in Vietnam, has requested permission to develop a casino.
The company has submitted a Request for Concepts (RFC) for “new integrated entertainment facilities” at the coastal complex near Danang, which would comprise a gaming complex.
BTC said the move was aimed at attracting more visitors from China.
“We are seeking facilities and strategies that are focused on attracting foreign tourists from greater Asia, with a particular focus on inbound tourists from China and greater Asia,” said Steve Small, managing director of BTC.
Small added that Banyan Tree will not be “in any way associated with the operations of these facilities”, but plans to identify companies to run the casino independently.
“We believe that experienced operators will be interested in the potential of integrated entertainment facilities and support the government’s aim to boost Vietnam’s tourism competitiveness,” Small added.
Laguna Lang Co opened in April 2013 and is home to Banyan Tree and Angsana resorts and residences, a golf course, conference facilities and retail outlets.
