Cathay Pacific Airways will launch more flights to San Francisco this summer.
Commencing on 11 June 2015, the Hong Kong-based airline will add three more weekly flights to the Californian city, taking the total frequency of the trans-Pacific route to 17 flights per week.
The extra flights will depart HKIA every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday at 1845, arriving in San Francisco at 1630 the same day, having crossed the International Date Line. The return service will then depart at 0130 every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, getting back into Hong Kong at 0640 the following day.
The new flights will operate alongside Cathay’s existing two daily services on the route, which depart HKIA at 0030 and 1415.
“Adding an evening departure out of Hong Kong will give our passengers more flexibility when travelling to San Francisco,” said Cathay’s chief operating officer, Rupert Hogg.
“These additional flights will also be a boon for the significant number of passengers who choose to travel through the Hong Kong hub to connect to a huge number of Asian destinations in the networks of Cathay Pacific and our sister airline, Dragonair.”
Cathay currently operates more than 100 weekly passenger flights between Hong Kong and seven destinations in North America: Chicago, Los Angeles, New York (JFK and Newark), San Francisco, Toronto and Vancouver. The airline will also commence flights to Boston on 2 May 2015.
