Cebu Pacific achieved new daily and annual traffic records in 2016.
For the full-year, the Philippine low-cost carrier carried a total of 19.1 million passengers, 4% more than in 2015. Its flights were 86% full on average.
And Cebu Pacific also set a new record for the number of passengers carried on a single day, with a total of 64,684 people boarding its flights on 27 December 2016. The previous record of 62,947 passengers was set almost a year earlier on 3 January 2016.
The growth in traffic was largely driven by the airline’s short-haul services, as Cebu Pacific increased flight frequencies on key domestic and regional routes.
Cebu Pacific’s traffic is expected to continue growing in future; between 2017 and 2021 the airline is planning to take delivery of 46 new aircraft, including 32 Airbus A321neos.
