Cebu Pacific Air (CEB) has launched the first commercial flight using its new Airbus A330-300 aircraft.
The Philippine low-cost carrier’s first ever wide-body aircraft took off from Manila airport on Thursday, bound for Seoul. Configured in an all-economy class layout, the aircraft seats 436 passengers – the maximum possible for an A330.
The new twin-aisle aircraft was delivered to CEB on 15 June 2013 and will be used to launch the airline’s first ever long-haul flights to Dubai in October. Meanwhile, CEB has also taken delivery of a new A320 aircraft.
The 180-seat single-aisle jet becomes CEB’s 45th aircraft, and comes equipped with ‘Sharklets’, the wing-tip extensions designed to reduce drag and save fuel.
“These highly efficient, state-of-the-art aircraft will allow us to continue offering CEB’s trademark lowest fares to our passengers, as they travel to, from and within the Philippines. We look forward to taking delivery of more aircraft, equipped with the most modern, best in class technology, for the benefit of our guests,” said CEB vice president of marketing & distribution, Candice Iyog.
The airline expects to take delivery of three more A330s, 16 more A320s and 30 A321neos from now until 2021.
