Cebu Pacific to connect Singapore with Iloilo
Cebu Pacific Air has announced plans to launch a new direct service connecting Singapore with Iloilo, in the central Philippines.
The route will be operated three times a week from 9 November 2012 using an Airbus A320 aircraft, and CEB’s Vice President for Marketing & Distribution, Candice Iyog, revealed that the low-cost carrier’s rapid fleet expansion plan was enabling the development of more regional routes.
“The launch of this new route will be in time for the delivery of three more brand-new Airbus A320 aircraft in the second half of 2012. CEB will continue to stimulate travel to, from and within the Philippines with the most extensive route network,” said Ms Iyog said.
The low-cost carrier also revealed that it is planning to launch direct twice weekly flights from Hong Kong to Iloilo and four weekly services from General Santos to Iloilo. It will also boost its Manila-Iloilo service to seven flights per day.
CEB currently operates 38 aircraft, but this will expand to more than 90 in the next 10 years. As well as regional single-aisle jets, the airline is planning to take delivery of twin-aisle Airbus A330 aircraft for the launch of long-haul services to Australia and the Middle East.
Dubbed the ‘Province of Festivals’, Iloilo lies in the southern part of Panay Island, in the Western Visayas region. Almost every town in Iloilo has an annual fiesta or festival.
