Cebu Pacific Air has taken delivery of another long-haul aircraft, which came loaded with aid to be donated to victims of natural disasters in the Philippines.
The new Airbus A330-300 aircraft arrived in Manila this week, packed with 2.4 tonnes of donations. This included clothes and shoes for children, school books and stationary, toys, blankets and medical supplies. These will now be transported to communities affected by severe flooding and typhoons in the Philippines.
The donations were collected by Aviation sans Frontières and will be distributed by World Vision.
“We are honoured to be working with the Airbus Foundation and Aviation sans Frontières on our second humanitarian delivery flight. Our acceptance of Cebu Air’s sixth Airbus A330 is made more meaningful as we transport much needed relief goods to the Philippines,” said Alex Reyes, general manager of Cebu Pacific’s long-haul division.
The new A330 features 436 seats in an all-economy class layout and will be used on Cebu Pacific’s long-haul routes to Australia and the Middle East.
Following the delivery, the low-cost carrier now operates a fleet of 55 aircraft, including 10 Airbus A319s, 31 A320s, six A330s and eight ATR 72-500s. And between 2015 and 2021, Cebu Pacific will take delivery of seven more A320s and 30 A321neo aircraft.
