Celebrity Millennium is to be taken out of service for a month for repairs following a spout of mechanical problems.

Cruises on the ship due to depart this Friday (23 August), 30 August, 6 September and 13 September have been cancelled, with the ship expected to return to service in late September.

According to USA Today, the ship has been docked in Ketchikan, Alaska since Sunday after there was a fault with one of its propulsion units. The ship could not continue to cruise, with passengers flown home and to receive full refunds.

It is the second mechanical issue for the ship in a matter of weeks, after having an electrical problem which halted a cruise on 9 August.

Millennium went through three days of emergency repairs in the Seward port, which led to cancelling a further departure.

Including the recent announcement, seven cruises in total have been impacted.
