Centara expands into Vietnam
Centara Hotels & Resorts has announced the opening of its first hotel in Vietnam. The Chen Sea Resort & Spa Phu Quoc, located on Phu Quoc Island in the far south of the country, will become a member of the recently-launched Centara Boutique Collection.
The boutique beach resort, which offers just 36 villas, will be operated under a management contract, becoming Thailand-based Centara’s fifth property in an overseas destination, following previous openings in Egypt, India, the Philippines and the Maldives.
“We are very pleased and proud to be announcing the addition of Chen Sea Resort & Spa, and we believe Vietnam holds immense tourism potential for the future,” said Gerd Steeb, President of Centara Hotels & Resorts. “This is part of our strategy of working closely with overseas business partners to develop a strong portfolio of prime properties in overseas destinations.”
The new resort features 12 large pool and spa villas, originally built as timber houses in the Vietnamese port city of Hoi An. They were shipped to the island of Phu Quoc and rebuilt as luxury accommodation. All villas feature a private terrace with ocean views, as well as LCD flat screen televisions, DVD players and Wi-Fi access. Resort facilities will include an ocean-facing swimming pool, tennis courts, restaurant, bar, dive centre, and a range of boats which can be hired or chartered. The resort also features two meeting rooms that accommodate up to 100 people.
“Chen Sea Resort & Spa is a superb addition to our Centara Boutique Collection brand, fitting in perfectly with the concept designed for cosmopolitan travellers who prefer a more individual style of holiday,” said Chris Bailey, Senior Vice President for Centara Hotels & Resorts. “Phu Quoc is growing quickly as a premier Vietnamese beach destination, and the resort offers both seclusion and convenience, as the local airport is only 15 minutes away.”
