Centara Hotels & Resorts has penned a major new deal that will see it open three new hotels in the Thai resort province of Krabi.

The Thai hotelier has signed an agreement with developer Perry & Son Co Ltd, which will see the opening of the Centara Pelican Bay Resort & Spa Krabi, Centara Pelican Bay Residence & Suites Krabi, and Centara Pelican Bay Villas Krabi.

Once all three hotels are complete, they will expand Centara’s portfolio in the province from two to five hotels, joining the existing Centara Grand Beach Resort & Villas Krabi and Centara Anda Dhevi Resort & Spa Krabi.

“Krabi has emerged as a prime tourist destination in recent years, and has enormous potential for the future,” said Thirayuth Chirathivat, chief executive officer of Centara Hotels & Resorts.

“We are very proud to have been a leader in developing Krabi for visitors, and these three new ventures give us superb scope to add to our presence in this beautiful part of Thailand.”

First to open in mid-2014 will be the Centara Pelican Bay Residence & Suites Krabi, which will have 92 residential units, a restaurant, swimming pool, business centre and beach club.

Development of the Centara Pelican Bay Resort & Spa Krabi is due to start in the middle of this year, with opening planned for the first quarter of 2017. This resort will offer 210 rooms, two restaurants, a bar, swimming pool, spa, business centre, fitness centre, kids’ club and banqueting space.

Finally, the Centara Pelican Bay Villas Krabi will be an all-villa resort. It will be located alongside the Centara Pelican Bay Resort & Spa, and is expected to open at the same time.

The three new properties will add to Centara’s existing portfolio of 47 hotels and resorts in Thailand. It also has 18 international properties.
