Hyatt is focusing on Central Asia’s major cities as it continues to expand into emerging markets.

Driven by its upscale Hyatt Regency brand, the company is developing one of the largest collections of internationally-branded hotels in the Central Asian region.

Joining its existing properties in Dushanbe and Bishkek, the respective capital cities of Turkmenistan and Kyrgyzstan, Hyatt has now opened its first property in Uzbekistan’s capital, Tashkent. And in 2017 it is planning to make its debut in Kazakhstan with the launch of a Hyatt Regency hotel in the country’s largest city, Almaty.

Hyatt Regency Tashkent opened this week, becoming the first Hyatt-branded hotel in Uzbekistan. Located in the city centre, close to government offices and embassies, the upscale hotel features 300 rooms and suites, four F&B outlets including a rooftop restaurant and extensive conference and banqueting space, including a 600m² ballroom.

This launch will be followed in 2017 by the opening of the 270-room Hyatt Regency Almaty in Kazakhstan. Currently, the company operates the 178-room Hyatt Regency Bishkek in Kyrgyzstan and the 211-room Hyatt Regency Dushanbe in Turkmenistan, so by next year, Hyatt will be present in four out of the five Central Asian states (the only exception being Tajikistan).

The Hyatt Regency brand is also present in a series of other former Soviet cities, including Baku, Kiev, Sochi and Yekaterinburg, along with multiple emerging cities across India and China.
