One of Thailand’s most famous hotels, the Dhara Dhevi Chiang Mai, has become a member of Preferred Hotels & Resorts.

The luxury resort, which operated for many years as a Mandarin Oriental, will now join Preferred’s new Legend Collection, which, according to the company, is reserved for “exceptional properties in the world’s most remarkable destinations”.

“Joining Preferred Hotels & Resorts… is a great opportunity for the Dhara Dhevi Chiang Mai and one that we are very excited about. We look forward to adding our distinctiveness, character and charm to the group’s global offerings,” said the Dhara Dhevi’s general manager, Andrew Quinlan.

Set in 24 hectares of land in the hills of Chiang Mai, Dhara Dhevi is designed in a traditional ‘Lanna’, or northern Thai, style. It offers 60 suites and villas and range of facilities, including French, Chinese and Thai restaurants and luxury spa with eight treatment rooms.

Having rebranded itself from Preferred Hotel Group in March 2015, Preferred Hotels & Resorts is now divided into five collections: Legend, LVX, Lifestyle, Connect and Preferred Residences.
