China Eastern Airlines will launch its first flights to Nepal next month.
Commencing on 20 November 2014, the airline will operate daily services between Shanghai and Nepal’s capital Kathmandu, with a stop in Kunming, the capital of southwest China’s Yunnan province. Previously the airline served the Kunming-Kathmandu route direct, without the Shanghai extension.
The new service will now see flights depart Shanghai Pudong International Airport at 0755 each day, arriving at Kathmandu’s Tribuvan International Airport at 1305. The return service will then take off from Kathmandu at 1405, getting back to Shanghai at 2310. All services will be operated using a single-aisle Boeing 737 aircraft.
China Eastern will become the first Chinese airline to connect Shanghai with the Nepalese capital.
Elsewhere in the South Asia region, China Eastern flies to Colombo, Dhaka, Delhi, Kolkata and the Maldives from either Shanghai or Kunming.
