China Eastern Airlines has penned an agreement that will see it launch flights between Wenzhou and Rome.
The deal with Wenzhou Airport Group Company will see the Shanghai-based airline launch twice weekly flights on the route from 24 December 2013. The service will mark the first ever direct connection between Europe and Wenzhou – a city in the Yangtze River Delta region of eastern China.
Flights will depart Wenzhou’s Longwan International Airport every Tuesday and Thursday at 1130, getting into the Italian capital at 1820, with a flight times of approximately 13 hours. The return service will leave Rome at 2030, arriving back in Wenzhou at 1630 the following day.
All flights will be operated using an Airbus A330-200 aircraft seating 262 passengers.
Wenzhou will become the fourth city in China to have direct service to Rome, following Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong.
