China Southern Airlines has ordered 80 new single-aisle jets from Airbus, Xinhua reported Airbus China as saying in Beijing on Saturday.
The large order includes 30 of the existing A320 versions (the A319, A320 or A321) and 50 of the more fuel-efficient A320neo model.
The deal is worth approximately US$8 billion at current list prices, and the aircraft will be delivered to China Southern from 2016 to 2020.
Guangzhou-based China Southern is already the largest airline in Asia in terms of fleet size, with a total of almost 450 aircraft at present. These include more than 200 A320s.
