CLIA UK & Ireland’s has been recognised for its training standards by City & Guilds.
The association’s ‘Oceans to Opportunities’ online programme for travel agents has been accredited by the national body after a rigorous assessment into its development, delivery and support.
The news comes as the association holds its seventh Cruise Convention today, covering different aspects of the industry as its 30-module course does.
“I am delighted that our comprehensive training programme has been recognised by the biggest name in vocational training, City & Guilds. We have worked hard to achieve accreditation and I believe that this now provides assurances to those travel agents undertaking the course that they will receive a high quality training programme designed to support and develop them as individuals, and which is backed by the City & Guilds rigorous benchmarking systems,” said Andy Harmer, CLIA UK & Ireland director.
Three thousand travel agents currently participate in the training programme, who work their way up through ranks after completing modules to eventually become a cruise master.
“Travel agents play an incredibly important role as today consumers are offered an even greater choice of cruise holidays,” said CLIA president and CEO Christine Duffy. “Agent training that is suited to today’s lifestyle is essential and the recognition achieved by CLIA UK & Ireland reinforces our commitment to high quality agent education at CLIA across the world.”
