Costa Cruises is to receive its latest ship, Costa Fascinosa, at the Venice passenger terminal this Saturday (5 May).
When delivered, the Costa Fascinosa, which cost £420m to build, will be the largest cruise ship flying the Italian flag at 114,500 gross tons and will carry 3800 guests. The central theme for her interiors has been conceived by well-known ship architect Joseph Farcus, who over the years designed many of the Carnival Cruise ships. The atmosphere aboard the Fascinosa was inspired by great films, the characters that made them famous and the works that brought success to the most celebrated theatres of the world.
Costa Fascinosa departs for her preview cruise on Sunday from Venice to Slovenia, Trieste and Croatia on a cruise hosting the 19th edition of the ‘Champions of the Sea’. Around 1,800 travel agents from Europe, North and South America, Asia and Africa will be onboard the cruise, which will also include a preview of its 2013 brochure, meetings with management and evening ceremonies to award the top selling agents.
On completion of the preview cruise the Costa Fascinosa will depart on her inaugural cruise from Venice – a 10-day itinerary to Greece, Israel and Turkey.
Meanwhile, Costa has released a new “Kids Cruise Free” promotion for this summer cruise season. The promotion is available until 24 November 2012 on most cruises onboard its 11 Europe-based ships for kids aged two to 17 sharing a cabin with two full paying adults.
