Abu Dhabi-based Cristal Hotels & Resorts aims to triple its portfolio within two years, as it presses forward with aggressive expansion plans.
The hotelier expects to increase its operational portfolio by 13 hotels in the Middle East region by 2016, rising to 50 properties globally by 2019.
“In five years since we opened our first hotel in Abu Dhabi, we now operate in four countries, including the UAE, Iraq, Lebanon, and the Comoros in the Indian Ocean,” said president and chief executive officer, Peter Blackburn.
Starting in the Middle East, Cristal has signed a deal on the 84-room Cristal Grand Kadri at Zahle, in Lebanon, where it already operates.
In June this year, Cristal will open its first property in Iraq, the 95-room Cristal Erbil hotel in Erbil. It will be followed by the 198-room Cristal Grand Erbil, scheduled for launch in 2016.
Cristal will also debut in Saudi Arabia next year with two hotels in Riyadh, followed by a third property opening in Damman in 2015
Then, looking to Africa, Cristal has reached an agreement with Delta Leisure Resorts (DLR) for West Africa’s first premium theme and wildlife resort. Located in Nigeria, the park will have two properties including the five-star 250-room Cristal Grand Delta, and a three-star 400-room Sterling Delta hotel.
Cristal Hotels will be exhibiting on the Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture stand this year’s Arabian Travel Mart (ATM) where it will be releasing further detail on its expansion plans.
