InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) is adding a new 243-room extension to the Crowne Plaza Changi Airport.
The current 320-room hotel, which opened in 2008, will be expanded with the construction of a new 10-storey wing. Once completed in 2016, it will expand the Crowne Plaza to 563 rooms, with facilities including a business centre, conference space, two restaurants, two bars, a swimming pool, health club and spa.
“Since it opened six years ago, Crowne Plaza Changi Airport has seen strong demand from a mix of passengers in transit and both short- and long-stay business and leisure travellers,” said Clarence Tan, IHG’s senior vice president of development for Asia, Middle East & Africa.
“With the government’s plans to increase the airport’s infrastructure and surrounding amenities, the extension to the hotel is a welcome development.”
IHG currently has six hotels comprising more than 2,200 rooms open in Singapore. With the extension of Crowne Plaza Changi Airport, the company now has more than 1,000 rooms across three hotels in its development pipeline.
