InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has opened a new Crowne Plaza hotel in Chongqing, focusing on the conference and events market.
The new Crowne Plaza Chongqing New North Zone debuted in late January 2014, next to the 36-hole Chongqing Poly Golf, which is also owned by the hotel’s developer, Poly Real Estate Group.
Designed as a major MICE hotel, the new Crowne Plaza has 2,300m² of event space across 15 meeting rooms, including a 900m² ballroom and an outdoor lawn for weddings and other events. The property also offers easy access to the Chongqing Auto Exhibition Centre and Yuelai International Conference & Exhibition Center, and is also 12km from the city’s Jiangbei International Airport.
Along with the conference and banqueting space, the new Crowne Plaza offers 326 guest rooms with views of the golf course, plus three restaurants with private dining rooms.
“We are very proud to be the ‘fresh blood’ of the hospitality industry in Chongqing,” said the hotel’s general manager, Bjorn Su. “We look forward to providing best-in-class services to valued guests from around the world.”
There are now 62 Crowne Plaza properties operating in China, with a further 52 hotels in the pipeline.
