Hollywood film-makers George Lucas, Robert Zemeckis and Ron Howard have been enlisted by Crystal Cruises to launch a new film-making course on its ships.
The directors and producers, alongside the University of Southern California’s School of Cinematic Arts, have developed the ‘Digital Film-making: the iPad iMovie Video Course’ for guests.
The free five-hour course was recently launched on Crystal Symphony and teaches professional film-making tools and techniques. Covering pre-production to the final cut, passengers can use an iPad each to shoot one of five genres including an interview, event, commercial, ‘man on the street’ or ‘how-to’. They then edit the footage and add music, graphics, voiceover and effects and can share the end product through social media.
The Digital Filmmaking course will expand to Crystal Serenity in January 2013, making the program available on all Crystal’s luxury cruises worldwide.
