Delta Air Lines has revealed details of its new business class product, which will enhance the privacy offered to premium passengers on its long-haul flights.

Set to debut in 2017 on the airline’s new Airbus A350 jets, the new Delta One suite will be the first business class seat to be separated from the aisle by a full-height sliding door.

Other features of the new product include full flat-bed seats, in-flight entertainment systems with 18-inch, high-definition screens, universal power outlets, USB ports, storage compartments for shoes, headphones and laptops, and mood lighting.

Passengers will also receive special meal and wine pairings, bedding designed by Starwood’s Westin brand, noise-cancelling headphones and designer amenity kits.

“After setting the standard with the introduction of full flat-bed seats with direct aisle access in 2008, Delta is again elevating the international business class experience,” said Tim Mapes, Delta’s senior vice president & chief marketing officer. “Added comfort and privacy are important to business travellers, and that drove the design of the all-new Delta One suite.”

The Delta One suite will initially be introduced on Delta’s first Airbus A350, which is due to enter service in autumn 2017. Each aircraft will feature 32 suites. The product will then be progressively rolled out across Delta’s Boeing 777 fleet.

Delta will become the first US airline to take delivery of the A350, which will primarily serve trans-Pacific routes to and from Asia Pacific. As well as the new business class seats, all A350s will be equipped with in-flight Wi-Fi.
