The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) will soon decide on issuing the flying license to AirAsia India.
The regulator is looking through various responses to the recent public notice, seeking opinion on whether a flying permit should be given to the airline.
“We will carefully look at the responses and decide whether or not to give a flying license to AirAsia,” an official at the DGCA told the Economic Times.
Among the negative responses, an 18-page note from BJP leader Subramanian Swamy and observations from four former directors at Air India. In July, Swamy filed a case in the Delhi High Court, for not following the FDI guidelines, where foreign airlines could only pick up stake in existing Indian carriers.
In September 2013, AirAsia announced it received a no objection certificate from the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA). The airline applied for its flying license in October 2013.
