Drukair will open its 10th international route to Mumbai.
The airline will commence commercial operations between Paro and Mumbai from 1 May 2014. The three-hour flight will operate two times a week, on Thursdays and Sundays, leaving Paro at 0730 and reaching Mumbai at 1010. On the Mumbai-Paro sector, the flight will depart Mumbai at 1110 and touch into Paro at 1440.
According to chief executive officer of Drukair, Tandin Jamtso, “Drukair is delighted to launch its maiden service to Mumbai, one of the busiest cities of India. By offering this connection to passengers, we are confident that this new route will become immensely popular with our travellers.”
The aircraft will be configured with 16 seats in business class and 12 seats in economy class. The Tourism Council of Bhutan (TCB) along with few other stakeholders of the country will conduct a three-city road show in Delhi, Mumbai and Calcutta. The TCB is keen to promote Bhutan in the Indian market given the proximity of the two countries, and is optimistic about tourists experiencing and enjoying Bhutan.
“The TCB is confident that the number of Indian and expat travellers to the Kingdom will sharply increase from the west and south India with the introduction of these flights as passengers can now inter-change at Mumbai for a direct flight. The launch of operations will also further enhance the Kingdom of Bhutan image as a destination for luxury and special occasion segments such as wedding, honeymoon, anniversaries and other celebratory occasions,” said Damcho Rinzin, International Travel Trade and PR Manager for the TCB.
