Three of Fred. Olsen Cruise Line’s ships will go into dry dock in quick succession, starting with Black Watch this week.
All three of the ships will go through refurbishments, engineering work and painting during the dry dock periods.
Twenty seven cabins on the Lido Deck 7 will be fitted with balcony terraces during Black Watch’s dry dock period, which started at the Blohm+Voss shipyard on 4 November. The ship’s first itinerary out of the yard will be a mystery cruise departing 15 November from Tilbury.
Both Braemar and Balmoral will have the Café Venus installed onboard offering coffee and luxury chocolates.
Braemar will be the second ship to enter the Hamburg dock on 12 November, where the café will be installed on Lounge Deck 5. The Card Room will be moved and integrated into the arts and crafts centre.
Works is being carried out ahead of a France mini-cruise departing Southampton on 20 November.
Balmoral will then arrive at the shipyard on 9 December where the café will be fitted on Lounge Deck 7 be reconfiguring the library to a larger social space. The ship will then offer a mini-cruise on 19 December when work is completed.
“We experience extremely high demand for balcony cabins across our fleet, and in particular on board the smaller-sized Black Watch, and our new Balcony Terrace cabins are an innovative response to this. We are also looking forward to being able to give guests the experience of fine coffee and chocolates on board Balmoral and Braemar, as they have already been enjoying on Boudicca and Black Watch,” said Mike Rodwell, managing director of Fred. Olsen.
