Dusit International’s only hotel in India will be rebranded following the cessation of its partnership in the country, the Economic Times reports.
The Bangkok-based hotel group operated the Dusit Devarana New Delhi as part of an agreement with India’s Bird Group. But this 50-room luxury hotel will now be rebranded under the new Roseate Hotels & Resorts label, marking Dusit’s exit from the Indian market.
Ankur Bhatia, executive director of the Bird Group, said his company now plans to expand further into the hotel sector.
Along with the rebranded Roseate New Delhi, it has also acquired the Roseate House hotel in the Indian capital. And two other Bird-owned properties in the UK have now been rebranded as Roseate Hotels.
“While we had a management joint venture with Dusit, they didn’t invest in our properties and were more of a silent partner,” Bhatia was reported saying. “With our new hotel in New Delhi, we thought it was the right opportunity to start with our own brand.”
Dusit and Bird Group first entered into their partnership in 2009, but the Thai hotel group appears to have turned its attentions away from India and more towards China and the Middle East.
