Absolute Hotel Services (AHS) has announced plans to bring its Eastin brand to the Indian region of Darjeeling.

A new management agreement will see the Bangkok-based hotel company operate the new Eastin Easy Kurseong, which is currently under construction in the state of West Bengal and set to open in 2014.

The hill station town of Kurseong is located just 32km from Darjeeling, the famous tea-growing area in the foothills of the Himalayas. The property will feature 60 rooms, decorated in a “modern mountain lodge” style, according to AHS, while other facilities will include a restaurant, lounge, gym and function rooms.

“We are excited with this opportunity to have an Eastin Easy hotel in such location with an international standard product and services which will help create more demand to the destination.” said Sameer Dharkar, regional managing director of AHS India.

The Eastin Easy Kurseong will open in two phases – phase in second quarter of 2014 and phase two in the first quarter of 2015. AHS currently operates one Eastin Easy hotel in India, the Eastin Easy Citizen Ahmedabad, but also plans to bring the budget brand to Kolkata and Goa next year.
