easyJet has confirmed it will retain flights between Inverness and Gatwick and even boost capacity on the route.
The low-cost carrier is to add a morning and evening departure from March 2014 when it takes control of the Flybe slots.
It comes from a five-year deal with Inverness Airport which has been in contact with the airline along with businesses in the region to ensure the route will continue to run.
“This deal demonstrates easyJet’s commitment to Inverness and the Highlands,” said the airline’s head of Scotland Hugh Aitken.
“The new early flight will allow business travellers to reach London in time for meetings while the evening departure from London enables them to travel home on the same day. The additional seats will also help boost tourism to the Highlands,” he added.
