easyJet to roll-out allocated seating

easyJet has announced it will introduce allocated seating on its flights from November this year.
The airline has been trialling the service since April and said feedback from passengers showed 70% preferred the system to its current random method. easyJet was most concerned about its quick turnaround times but has been able to achieve it on trial flights.
“Our customers asked us to trial allocated seating and we are really pleased with the positive passenger feedback during the trial. As importantly, we have shown that we can do so while delivering strong on time performance – the most important driver of passenger satisfaction,” said Carolyn McCall, chief executive of easyJet. “Allocated seating gives all our passengers a better boarding experience and offers the choice of selecting a seat to those who want to. On trial flights the majority of passengers were simply allocated seats when they checked in.”
Passengers will be allocated a seat free of charge but can pay extra if they want a particular seat. Allocated seating will commence on flights from London airports (expect Gatwick North), Southend, Bristol and Glasgow from 13 November, with all flights using the method by 27 November.
