Eco-friendly hotel brand to launch in Australia

Marriott International has revealed plans to launch its eco-friendly Element Hotels brand in Australia.
The company has penned a management deal for a new-build hotel located in Melbourne’s Botanicca Corporate Park, a new commercial and retail development. The property, to be named Element Melbourne Richmond, is scheduled to open in 2019.
“We are delighted to launch the Element Hotels brand in Australia, following the brand’s unprecedented growth worldwide,” said Sean Hunt, Marriott’s area vice president for Australia, New Zealand & Pacific.
“Sustainability is a growing concern for an increasing number of travellers globally, and Element Melbourne Richmond is ideal for guests looking for an eco-friendly alternative, with its clean, residential-style suites that make guests feel at home, whether they’re staying a short while or for a longer period.”
All Element Hotels are built green from the ground up using sustainable products and practices. Sustainable design components include low-flow rainfall and showerheads, no-PVC flooring, energy efficient LED lighting, electric-vehicle charging stations, filtered water, low-VOC paints, recycled carpeting and guestroom designs incorporating sustainable features.
Element Melbourne Richmond will feature 168 rooms, including many with kitchenettes, plus a 24-7 “grab and go” F&B outlet, a bike sharing programme, gym and outdoor yoga deck. It will also provide 250m² of meeting space.
The new hotel will add to Marriott’s Pacific portfolio, which currently includes 25 operational hotels and 22 properties in the pipeline, including W Melbourne, Aloft Melbourne South Yarra, Westin Brisbane, Westin Perth and W Brisbane.
