Egencia, the corporate travel arm of Expedia, has revealed plans to create a “new global organisation” as part of its expansion plans for 2017 and beyond.
The new structure is designed to “simplify reporting lines and to align Egencia’s teams for the growth, opportunities and challenges ahead”, according to the company.
In actual fact, Egencia will create two new global organisations – one comprising sales and account management teams that focus on serving clients, and a second to be dedicated to scaling-up Egencia’s operations and developing supplier partner relationships.
The sales organisation will be headed up by Christophe Peymirat, a corporate travel veteran who now becomes chief commercial officer of Egencia Worldwide. The other business will be led by another Egencia stalwart, Mark Hollyhead, who takes up the role of chief operating officer for Egencia Worldwide. Both Peymirat and Hollyhead will report to Egencia’s president, Rob Greyber.
These changes form part of Egencia’s business strategy for the coming years, which will focus on increasing investment and innovation in new products and technology. It cited the recent launch of the company’s Apple Watch and Android Wear app as an example of this.
“In corporate travel, the next decade will be even more dynamic, innovative and filled with challenges and opportunities than the last ten years,” predicted Greyber. “Egencia will continue to drive revolution in corporate travel and these new teams, led by seasoned company leaders, will help us deliver what every company in our industry will need to offer in the coming years: business travel for the Expedia generation.”
