Eid attracts 14,000 tourist to Sulaymaniyah

The directorate of tourism in Sulaymaniyah revealed the entry of fourteen thousand tourists to Sulaymaniyah province through border crossings and Sulaimaniyah International Airport on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr.

The media director of directorate of tourism in Sulaymaniyah , Aram Huani was quoted in Shafaq News that 3200 tourists arrived from Iran via border crossing of Pashmag, in addition to 3800 tourists through Sulaimaniyah International Airport. He added that 4365 tourists entered Sulaymaniyah through Taslojah checkpoint and 2715 tourists from Arabt checkpoint.

He further pointed out that compared to previous seasons and holidays, number of tourists has dropped considerably because of deteriorating security situation in some Iraqi provinces. Violence and fighting in large parts of the country reflected negatively on the tourism season this year in Sulaimaniyah city and the rest of Kurdistan.
