Emirates has deployed its Airbus A380 on the route to Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport (DFW).
The inaugural A380 flight departed Dubai International Airport on 1 October 2014 and will now operate daily. Operating as flight EK221, services leave Dubai at 0245 and arrive at DFW at 0945 the same day. The return service, EK222, then departs the Texas hub at 1235 and arrives back in Dubai at 1220 the following day. The flying time is approximately 15 hours.
“Commencing an A380 service to Dallas-Fort Worth allows us to provide an additional 222 seats each way on the route every day,” said Hubert Frach, Emirates’ divisional senior vice president. “This means a greater number of Emirates passengers travelling from South Asia, the Middle East, Far East and Africa can enjoy easy access to North Texas from Emirates’ home and hub of Dubai.
“We know everything in Texas is bigger so it is fitting that Emirates, which is the largest operator of the A380, is bringing the world’s largest passenger aircraft to Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport,” he added.
The A380 Emirates has deployed on the Dubai-Dallas route can accommodate 488 passengers, including 14 in first class, 76 in business class and 398 in economy.
Dallas becomes Emirates’ 31st global A380 destination and its third in the USA, following New York and Los Angeles. But San Francisco and Houston will also join the network on 1 and 3 December 2014 respectively.
The Emirates flight becomes the second new A380 launch for DFW Airport in the same week, after Qantas deployed its double-decker jet on its Sydney-Dallas route.
