Emirates has launched two new routes using its Airbus A380 aircraft, including its first superjumbo service to Taiwan.
The inaugural A380 flight from Dubai to Taipei landed at Taoyuan International Airport at 1650 on Monday, where it was greeted by a traditional water cannon salute.
The airline’s second new A380 route, to Prague, touched down in the Czech capital later that day. Both routes were previously served using Boeing 777 aircraft.
“Taiwan is a significant market for Emirates and we have witnessed a strong and steady growth in demand since our start of services in 2014. We are committed to cultivating the market through continuous investment and we are confident that the launch of our new A380 service will open up further opportunities in business and tourism between Taiwan and other countries,” said Thierry Antinori, Emirates’ executive vice president & chief commercial officer.
“We are pleased to add Prague too to our list of more than 40 A380 destination cities and introduce our innovative, best-in-class onboard product and renowned service to Czech customers. Czech travellers now have more opportunities to connect seamlessly with Emirates’ 150-plus destinations around the world, through one single stop in Dubai.”
Emirates has deployed its highest capacity aircraft on the Taipei route – a 615-seat, two-class version of the A380 that comes equipped with 58 seats in business class and 557 in economy. The Prague route will be operated using a three-class, 518-seat A380.
