Emirates has announced plans to launch an additional daily service between Dubai and Colombo.
Effective 1 August 2016, the airline will operate five daily flights to the Sri Lankan capital, every day except Wednesdays when it will operate four flights. The means the airline will offer a total of 34 weekly services on the route.
“Colombo is a very popular destination for both business and leisure travellers,” said Ahmed Khoory, Emirates’ senior vice president of commercial operations for West Asia & Indian Ocean.
“The increased frequency provides our customers with greater flexibility in their travel plans, allowing them to explore this exciting destination and connect seamlessly to other flights on Emirates’ extensive global network.”
The new flight, EK648, will depart Dubai every day at 1355 and arrive in Colombo at 1955. The return flight, EK649, will then leave Sri Lanka’s capital city at 2210 and arrive back in Dubai at 0100 the following day. Emirates will operate the flight using a Boeing 777-300ER aircraft.
Emirates first launched flights to Sri Lanka in April 1986 and also connects Colombo with Male and Singapore.
