Emirates adds permanent A380 flight to Singapore

Emirates will boost its Singapore route with the introduction of a permanent Airbus A380 service from 1 December 2012.

The Dubai-based airline is offering a limited A380 services to Singapore this month, operating the 517-seat superjumbo on the route from 8-21 September, replacing the regular 354-seat Boeing 777-300ER to cater for expected high passenger demand. But from 1 December this year, Emirates will offer a permanent daily A380 service to Singapore – one of four daily flights it operates on the route.

“Emirates is currently operating a two week ad-hoc Airbus A380 service between Dubai and Singapore which has received extremely positive responses from our passengers. In light of this we have decided to bring our flagship aircraft to Singapore on a permanent basis. This follows our progressive build-up of services on this route over the last few years. Despite the current global economic uncertainty, we remain committed to the Singapore market adding significant seat capacity – over 2,200 seats a week – which is set to foster tourism and trade between Singapore, Dubai and beyond,” said Salem Obaidalla, Emirates’ Senior Vice President of Commercial Operations for the Far East & Australasia.

Emirates three-class A380 offers 14 seats in first class, 76 in business class and 427 in economy Class. The Singapore service will departs Dubai daily at 0325, arriving in Singapore’s Changi airport at 1440. The return flight departs Singapore 2135 and arrives back into Dubai at 0100.

Emirates’ fleet of 23 A380s now serves Amsterdam, Auckland, Bangkok, Beijing, Hong Kong, Jeddah, Johannesburg, Kuala Lumpur, London Heathrow, Manchester, Munich, New York JFK, Paris, Rome, Seoul, Shanghai, Sydney, Toronto, Tokyo. Additional A380 destinations that are set to launch this year include Melbourne (from 1 October 2012) and Moscow (from 1 December 2012), as well as Singapore.
