Emirates will launch a second daily service to Los Angeles on 1 July 2016, using its 491-seat, three-class Airbus A380 aircraft.
The new service, flight EK217, will depart Dubai every day at 1500 and arrive in Los Angeles at 2000. The return flight, EK218, will then leave LAX at 2230 and arrive back in Dubai at 0130 two days later, following a 16-hour flight.
This service will complement the existing 0855 departure from Dubai and the 1645 return flight from LAX, which is also operated using an A380.
“Our new flight will create more choices and shorter connection times for many passengers travelling via Dubai and onwards to Los Angeles and surrounding areas,” said Hubert Frach, Emirates’ divisional senior vice president of commercial operations – west. “Passengers wishing to travel beyond Los Angeles to nearby destinations in the US can take advantage of our partnerships with Virgin America and Alaska Airlines.”
Passengers travelling from LA will also be offered shorter connection times at Dubai to destinations including Mumbai, Singapore, Bangkok and Hong Kong.
The announcement of Emirates’ second daily LA flight comes just days after Qatar Airways launched its inaugural flight to the Californian city.
