Emirates will add a second sports channel to its live in-flight TV service this month, enabling passengers to watch major events such as Euro 2016 and the Olympic Games in Rio.
Now available on more than 90 of the airline’s Boeing 777 aircraft, the new Sports 24 Extra channel will complement the existing Sports 24 channel to offer double the live sports coverage on Emirates’ in-flight entertainment system.
As a result, passengers will be able to watch live broadcasts of Euro 2016, Formula 1 and Moto GP races, the Wimbledon and US Open tennis championships, and the US Open, Open Championship and Ryder Cup golf tournaments. It will also provide live coverage of the Rio 2016 Olympics in August.
As well as the two sports channels, Emirates’ live TV service includes CNN, BBC World News, Sky News, Euro News, CNBC, Al Jazeera and NHK World.
And these channels will also be start being introduced to Emirates’ fleet of A380s this month, with the delivery of its first superjumbo aircraft equipped with live TV.
