Emirates has launched its own online Application Programme Interface (API) to encourage stronger B2B partnerships.
The airline’s online B2B API is a direct connect solution which allows distribution partners to directly connect to Emirates’ host reservation system providing access to availability, pricing, shopping and ticketing. In addition, the API facilitates ancillary sales including excess baggage, visas, and chauffer services.
The new platform is New Distribution Capability (NDC) compatible as per International Air Transport Association (IATA) guidelines and will enhance communications between the airline and travel agents.
“The new capabilities will allow Emirates to extend its online brand to travel retailers and ease integration into their own trading platforms. This is an important step in for us in enhancing our already strong mobile and B2C strategy and will allow us to collaborate more effectively with the travel industry,” said Paul Starrs, senior vice president of global sales.
Since its launch, several new ventures have been forged with consolidators and travel agents. One of the early adopters is Mondee Travel from the United States.
The API will effectively extend the reach of the airline‘s online brand by developing and marketing an Emirates online direct solution.
