Emirates has set a new aviation record by welcoming four new wide-body aircraft in the same day.
The fast-expanding airline celebrated a bumper delivery that included three Boeing 777s and one Airbus A380 aircraft. Two of the new B777s were the B777-300ER passenger versions.
“The Airbus A380 and Boeing 777 are two of the most advanced, efficient, and spacious commercial aircraft in the skies today. They are the mainstay of the Emirates fleet, giving us versatility in our route planning, and also the ability to offer our customers the latest features and comforts onboard,” said Emirates’ president, Sir Tim Clark.
“Our long-standing commitments to both aircraft programmes continue to support jobs and innovation across the aerospace manufacturing supply chain around the world, particularly in the USA and Europe. And we will continue to work closely with both manufacturers to raise the bar on operational efficiency and onboard product features.”
Emirates is already the world’s largest operator of the B777 and the A380. These latest deliveries boost the Dubai-based airline’s total A380 fleet to 66 aircraft, and its B777 fleet to 147.
Emirates has now received 14 new aircraft in 2015, including nine A380s and five B777s, while retiring eight older aircraft. The airline now has outstanding orders for 270 more aircraft including 46 B777-300ERs, 115 B777-9Xs, 35 B777-8Xs and 74 A380s.
