All eight of Emirates‘ daily flights to London will be operated by Airbus A380 aircraft from 1 January 2016.

The Dubai-based carrier will start using the double-decker jet on its third daily flight to London Gatwick Airport in January, completing the full A380 deployment to the UK capital’s two airports, Heathrow and Gatwick.

Combined with Emirates’ double daily A380 services to Manchester, the airline will offer a total of 70 A380 flights per week to the UK next year, more than any other country on the Emirates network.

“The deployment of a third A380 to London Gatwick now means that travellers to and from London can enjoy our world-class A380 on every flight,” said Hubert Frach, Emirates’ divisional senior vice president of commercial operations – West.

“In the last five years we have increased capacity into London by over 25%. This demonstrates the attractiveness of the A380 with its ability to serve customer demand at slot-constrained points without the need for adding another frequency.”

Emirates first deployed its A380 to London Heathrow in December 2008, and it has gradually ramped up the double-decker services ever since.

In total Emirates now operates 119 weekly flights to six UK gateways: Heathrow, Gatwick, Birmingham, Manchester, Newcastle and Glasgow.
